 Brandy's Blog

Greetings one and all.

This month I thought I would let you do the talking.. So this is short and to the point...

I am sure there are plenty of people out there who disagreed with my NFL picks. Its your turn to talk to me and tell who you think is going to tear up the season!!!

Ricky,

I appreciate your comments. I admit I dropped the ball with this story. At least it got you to respond. I admit mistakes were made. When I wrote the story and submitted it, it was 6-7 pages long. My editor elected to run the story because there must have been something he liked about it. It's readers like you who make me appreciate my job and give me the courage to work harder and improve.
Thank you for your constructive criticism....By the way, who is winning the Super Bowl?

WOW!
Ricky Bobby
So Brandy, I was reading your article about the NFL picks and I just had to say WOW!
How did you get this piece of garbage published?
Did anybody proof read this? I mean, I know it's So6ix magazine but Jesus!

1. In your introduction, you say "I did not use a formula what I learned from my sources, ESPN and the Sporting News."
IS THAT A SENTENCE!!! Holy God that is awesome.
2. San Diego Chargers receivers "Vincent Jackson and Malcolm Floyd had seasons last year and look to do it again"
WOW!!! THIS IS WHERE I LOST MY STUFF LAUGHING! I would hope they had seasons last year and I would hope they would do it again. Did ESPN give you that tidbit?
3."Coach Ken Whisenhunt will return with Kurt Warner as the starting quarterback for the Cardinals."
Ken Whisenhunt plays quarterback? Holy crap that is awesome! He must be the first coach/quarterback combination in the history of the NFL.
4. I love the multiple sentences you use, "Recievers Larry Fitzgeral, Anquan Boldin and Steve Breaston look good this season."
I would say this may be the least informative sentence in the history of sports writing but you trumped your self with your next sentence!
"Their defense looks good this season!" Wow, that was a doozie!
5. In the Minnesota Vikings description you talk about the Vikings being successful if "Favre still has good hands."
Last time I checked Favre is on the list for top quarterbacks of all time, not receivers. THIS FAILS TO COMPUTE!

That is just scratching the surface! With all the incorrect capitalizations and terrible sentence structure in this one article, I think you could possibly write an entire "How Not To" sports journalism book.

I must say I got an incredible laugh out of this magazine and I just wanted to say thank you Brandy Morris, and thank you So6ix magazine.
I even came up with a slogan for your magazine,
"So6ix Magazine, where embarrassing sports writing reaches its peak!"

PS. Brandy, keep trying and I am sure you will get better someday. Also, if this is your career choice... well umm... yeah.
